A hybrid turbo is simply a turbocharger that is not standard or can be retrofitted.

The most efficient turbo consists of a turbo combining components from different frame sizes and possibly from different manufacturers such as Garrett or BorgWarner.

There are many variations of a hybrid, from a turbo where only one component has been changed or modified, to a turbocharger where all components have been changed or modified in some way. Therefore, there are no set rules for the design of hybrid turbo or the achievable performance.

It resembles a modified engine in that it looks the same on the outside but is loaded with more exotic materials and components that flow faster on the inside.

By converting the turbo to a ball bearing turbocharger, the will improve response and performance, especially on a road car.

With drives without ball bearings, you often have to choose between performance and response.

Delay increases when more power and torque are available for the same displacement. What is Turbo Hybrid? The basic idea is to get more flow out of the turbocharger for a given rotor speed.

This can be done in a number of ways such as using larger or more efficient compressor turbines, higher flow compressor shrouds and more A/R, tuned turbine blades and larger A/R turbine housings, etc.

Yes, you will generally increase your power. but what are you doing Increasing the boost pressure of a standard turbocharger requires two actions that are or can be harmful to the turbo and/or the engine. To apply the extra pressure, the turbo must first work harder and spin faster.

The turbine is designed to run at the highest speed you can trust. If you spin faster, you can get out of this range, which can lead to failure of the turbine blades.

Speeding up the compressor wheel will no doubt give you more flow and pressure, but this comes at the cost of lower efficiency and therefore higher charge temperature. This can increase the likelihood of a pre-explosion and reduce fuel efficiency.

A properly sized hybrid turbo allows for increased compressor efficiency and additional flow and pressure at safe and reliable turbine speeds.

Therefore, more flow means more air – ideally at a cooler temperature – to which more fuel can be added, resulting in more horsepower.

Although professional tuning is all about the flow of the engine, many people, including some tuners, are obsessed with “push”.
